first pics of new house ... mainly cats ;)

Apologies for not having proper pictures ... but here are some preliminary phone pics of the new house.  Better pictures to follow when I've cleaned up a bit ;)

Firstly - kittehs!  The cats are LOVING this house - they sit on the stairs:

Oh HAI!  What are you doing?
Hey, this staircase isn't big enough for both of us:

Charlie's favourite spot in the studio ... unfortunately, this means my sofa is covered in her hair :S

A very rare moment when Frankie is quiet ... very very rare ;)

OK, one more cat pic ... an awkward moment:

Right - now the studio.  Again, excuse the light, but here a couple of pics when it was completely empty (and yes, that HUGE Ikea light was there when we moved in!):

Sunset ocean view from the studio - I don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing the sea from here!

And cool shadows from the light shade on the walls (which will eventually be painted white to accentuate the cool architectural angles):

I've bought a chest of drawers for wool storage:

Did you make it this far?  PHEW!

As I said, the studio will be painted white, but will have purple painted in the window recesses.  Downstairs, the colour scheme will be white with aqua blue accents.

  2. Wow, an empty room to plan properly in the setting up! Jealous. Good luck with it. It looks wonderful.

    1. Well Mary, it's not empty now!! But I will still have a lovely large space in the middle of the room so I can move my loom and needlepoint frame wherever I want when I'm working ;)

Setting up was challenging considering all the walls come in at funny angles ... so no furniture that's too high (except the bookcase, which rests against one of the only straight walls!).

Let's just say that Ikea is my friend ;)

    1. Aw, thanks! The first drawer is full of my Australian Tapestry Workshop cones, which I have been collecting over the years for my Threefold Designs cross stitch kits ... the second drawer is mainly for tapestry weaving - a lot of it dyed in my first year of studying and the rest undyed wool ready and waiting ;)

    1. They do it all the time!! We have a theory that they're secretly friends when we're not home ... or maybe not ;P

  5. I am amazed by the view from your studio. It will be perfect when it's ready and your creativity will flow. My studio is stuck in the cold basement, not so fun. The cats are so lovely I love their body language and expressions.

    1. Yeah, and the colour of the ocean changes every time I look at it - amazing!

You can make any space work for you ... at least a basement would have good sound-proofing, something lacking in my new space ;)

The cats are evil ... and don't let them convince you otherwise! Nah, they're gorgeous girls, just very different personalities ;)

  6. hey Michelle, thanks for visiting my blog. No wonder you love my garden loom, you're a REAL weaver! I love your new house, and that view of the ocean...very special...which one is it?
And your kitties, gorgeous. I have 3, an older mum and daughter pair, who give the newbie kitten those sort of evil looks, and she's not a bit worried, torments thepants off them. I should do a kitty post!

  8. Your drawer of Tapestry Cones reminds me of my drawer of serger thread. Like you, I am somewhat OCD and it annoys me no end when they fall over. Probably the answer to that is to fill the drawer entirely, so they can't tip over!

Your Peacock Purse is just lovely! Now I have to backtrack and start reading all your older posts ... :o)

    1. Hi, welcome to my blog! Yeah, in our last house I had smaller basket-type drawers which looked gorgeous, but the cones always fell over when I opened them ;) This is *much* better, and I can fit more in!!
