life @ 40

Yep guys - I'm now 40!  Though I'm a bit late updating here ... it happened just over a week ago ;)

So what else has been going on around here?  Well, we got chickens!  Here they are being released into the yard ;)  Anita wanted them to dig up the grass for her ... and they're already doing a great job!

The white chicken is Hilla, the black one on the far left is Fruchoc, and the middle black one is Florrie.  They are little bantams, and are laying at least one egg every day!  They are about half the size of a normal egg, so cute!

Proof!  Anita's hand is larger than mine, so the egg looks extra small here, haa!

It's a long weekend here in South Australia, so I will be spending it doing homework (only 2 more months before I have completely finished my Diploma Of Visual Art - Tapestry!!!), and do some weaving.  It's getting warmer here, so it's time to build up my stock, and hopefully pump up some overseas sales ;)

Catch ya later!

  1. Good luck with finishing off the course! It can get rather stressful at this time of the year.

  4. Happy birthday!

My boyfriend wants chickens one day. We like to watch the chickens next door run away. I like the fattest looking little yellow one!

    1. Thanks sweetie! It was Anita who wanted the chickens, but now I'm very attached to them! I can't believe how massive some of them are, so I'm happy we have bantams!

We'd love to do rescue battery hens one day, but apparently we have to have experience with 'normal' chicks first ;)

  5. Happy Birthday Michelle! I can't beleive that you're actually 40 now, you look far more younger, it must be happines and healthy eating that does the trick, am I right?
Aw, bit envious of your chickens. I have always wanted my own, hopefully it will come true next summer.

    1. Awww, thanks Therese! It's the hair, takes the attention away from everything else, haaha!!
Seriously though, I believe doing what you want and not caring about your age is the key ;)

Yes, get chickens - I am converted, and now would highly recommend them!!

  6. Happy belated birthday! And damn you look good for your age! I wanted to raise chickens but my city no longer allows it. I intend to either get chickens or goats if I move out to the countryside. :)

    1. Thanks so much!! Aww, thank you, to be honest I don't think about age at all - maybe that's some think I look younger ;)

Oooo, moving to the countryside would be awesome!
